Thursday 23 April Mrs Edmonds Video post
Morena Tamariki ma
I hope you are all well.
Mrs Edmonds has been very busy in her kitchen cooking lasagna. I have also been sanding an old school desk I had. I want to make it look nearly new again!
Also my big girl Lillias has been sewing using our sewing machine. She found an old dress and asked me if she could cut it short because it didn't look good as she had grown too tall for it. We measured it and pinned it and cut it and then she sewed it. Now it looks like a new dress!
My daughters and I are going to make a red poppy flower to put on our letter box today! The poppy flower represents ANZAC day. Next week you will be learning about Anzac day on our new slide deck. Perhaps you could ask your mums and dads if they know what ANZAC day is?
Heres a before and after photo of Lillas's dress. Can you see the changes she made?

Goodmorning Mrs Edmonds, what talents you have! My goodness I'm so impressed with your sewing skills. I am going to make some poppies to put on our letterbox also, I saw a good idea about using New World canvas bags if you have no red paper. I will look for yours next time I walk past. Have a fantastic day room 23!
ReplyDeleteLillas looks stunning in her remodeled dress. What a clever girl she is! I like that you are making a poppy for Anzac Day on Saturday. I think I'll make some yummy Anzac biscuits.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Mrs Edmonds and Lillas,
ReplyDeleteI love watching you, Mrs Edmonds and reading your posts. Look at you Lillias! Absolutely gorgeous dress, you have cut the straps off!You look like you are ready for the summer again. ReplyDeleteGood morning Mrs Edmonds and gorgeous daughter! I love the 'old but ne dress looks like you have cut off the straps and made it shorter. Looks fabulous on!Ataahua! My daughter Hollie has been cutting the bottoms off t-shirts and making them into crop tops. She then sews a new hem along the bottom. Fun and a great way of recycling. We may run past yur lace later and see if you have put your poppies out yet!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Mrs Edmonds. Lasagne is one of my favourites. I went for an early morning walk. Great to get out in the fresh air.
ReplyDeleteKia ora Mrs Edmonds and Room 23. Thank you for sharing all the busy things you and your family have been doing. What a great idea to put Anzac poppies on your letterbox so others will think about the sacrifices made for us all by the soldiers long ago.

ReplyDeleteGreat work teaching Lillas how to sew, nearly a lost art (you're so clever Mrs Edmonds).I hope all the kids in room 23 are being nice and helpful to their parents. I'm sure they are!
ReplyDeleteGosh, Lillas that dress looks amazing on you. You really suit the colours and floral pattern. I like the idea of upcycling and reusing. This is being KIND to our environment.
